01/W Site Kudos

rev: 03May19

Note: This page is not intended for general viewing. Readers of this page should be here only by special request.

I originally created the 01 web site for two reasons:
1. to learn about HTML and making a web site, and
2. to organize what I learned about my instrument so I could find it when I wanted it.

I never actively promoted the site, so I was surprised and pleased to get the occasional e-mail expressing positive sentiments about the site. Since the only compensation I get from my work are these remarks, I have gathered them here for those days when a little inspiration would be nice.

This site won't mean much to those who don't have a Korg 01/W synthesizer, but if you'd like to visit the site these comments are about, click here to go to the 01 On-Line Manual.

Ken,
I don’t know if you’re still active with the 01/W-site, but I think you did a great job. I’ve been playing the Pro-X for almost 10 years now, but only recently discovered your site. My compliments. It has definetely broadened my mind.

Dear Ken:
May I ask a question??  Have you ever worked with blind people before? Because if you haven't, you are really good at explaining things. ...  I have sent off for information about how to get a braille manual, but you were so good, that maybe I don't need one of those after all!

I happen to own Kens Book, and have a three inch hardcopy stack of the other Korg 01/W topics, from his Web Site. The book is well worth buying, between the book and the Web site it would clear up a lot of confusion.

Hi Ken,
I did visit the website, long enough to be impressed by the fact that it actually is loaded with useful information, unlike the majority of websites.

A bookmark to your website has been added to my short list of meat-and-potatoes sites. The effort you've made is appreciated by those of us who lack the discipline it must take to collect so great a volume of useful tidbits, categorize, distill and apply them to the written page.

Then, to send it out into the world, never knowing how your gift will be received. That's gotta take guts.

You are making your mark on the world, and your efforts are appreciated.

I will close quickly before the urge to ask something like "where can I get a Xeroxed copy of your books?" overcomes me and I wind up blurting it right out. Oops.
Best Regards
Greg

I recently purchased a 01/W Pro X for my father. It did not come with a manual and your site has been a god send. As you know, Korg no longer supports the 01/W, not even manuals which is easy money for them.

Ken,
You have made this music loving, non-musically talented pastor a hero among the musicians in my church. I followed the procedure you outlined; found the MIDI Channel setting to be “02” instead of the “01” you indicated was correct. After changing it, everything works fine. My thanks for your help. If you ever need a prayer or a sermon, maybe I can help back.
