"I wanted to create a company where I would want to work, in a place where I would want to live. We started with a blank slate — we could have located anywhere, but Boulder was an easy choice. Given the quality and longevity of our staff, I think we succeeded on both counts."

Spike Ilacqua

Chief Technical Officer

In 1989 Spike was the technical brain behind the very first Internet service provider, The World (Software Tool & Die, Boston, MA), where he developed new strategies and software for the emerging Internet industry. Desiring a change, in 1994 he brought what he had learned to Boulder and, together with business partner Shelli Meyers, founded Indra's Net.

Spike brings over 20 years of system administration and network engineering experience to Indra's Net and has been the technical wizard behind the development of all aspects of the company's network, system, security, and application architecture. An accomplished software developer specializing in web-based applications, he has authored numerous proprietary ecommerce systems, credit card-processing applications, web directories, and system management tools for the company and its clients. Highly proficient in many development platforms and programming languages (Ruby on Rails, Perl, PHP, and a dozen others), Spike is constantly developing and improving the company's software arsenal so it can better benefit its clients.
