Create separate passwords for the following purposes, so that if one is compromised, they all aren't: 1. online banking (preferably a separate password for every account) 2. online shopping (don't store credit card info with the vendor if you don't have to) 3. email 4. social networks, blogs, non-financial website registrations Change your passwords at least once a year. Never reuse old passwords. Try to use at least a 10-character password wherever you can. Never send your passwords in email. Your ISP (or bank) will never send you an email asking you to confirm your account information. Those are scammers looking to hijack your account. A few final pieces of advice.
